The Healthy Local Foods (HLF) exhibit, hosted by Renewing the Countryside, is sure to be a huge hit for the whole family! This year’s exhibit is focused on “Why Farm to School is Good for Minnesota Children, Farmers, and Communities.” The exhibit will highlight how Farm to School has grown in Minnesota over the last few years, the evolution of school lunches, and the many positive benefits of local Farm to School programs. Daily cooking demonstrations will showcase yummy recipes from Bemidji Public Schools, Hopkins Public Schools, Whole Foods Market, St. Paul Public Schools, and Birchwood CafĂ©, along with other local restaurants. Visitors will also be able to enjoy free samples from local farms and producers, including milk, cheese, watermelon, and tomatoes. Kids can complete coloring pages, get Farm Ninja washable tattoos, and race their favorite vegetable race car at the inaugural Veggie Grand Prix. The exhibit will also highlight local CSA farms and organizations supporting local sustainable food systems. Participating farms include Savory Spring Farms, Blackbrook Farm, and Amador Hill Farm and Orchard, among others. For more information, check out the links below. Hope to see you there!
